About us
We began in 2026 with a shared love of the night sky and a rooftop. Today the club runs a monthly observation calendar and a growing archive of member astrophotography captured from the Sukna campus and nearby dark sites in the Himalayan foothills.
Membership is open to every SIT student regardless of department or year. No prior background is expected — we teach sky navigation, observation techniques and imaging fundamentals from scratch, and pair newcomers with senior observers for their first few sessions.
Clear skies, always shared.
What we do
Night-sky sessions from the campus lawn and the Sukna foothills — planets, clusters, eclipses and meteor showers.
Deep-sky stacking, star trails and lunar imaging workshops, from a DSLR on a tripod to tracked long exposures.
Reading sessions and student talks on cosmology, relativity, exoplanets and mission science, plus ISRO launch watch-parties.
Sky-viewing camps for schools around Siliguri, National Science Day exhibits and open sessions for the whole campus.
Follow our channels for observation alerts, workshop registrations and results from the last imaging run.
