Privacy policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
This policy explains how the Astronomy Club of Siliguri Institute of Technology handles information belonging to members, event participants and visitors to this website.
1. Information we collect
- We collect information you provide (name, email, phone, department, year of study) when you join the club or register for events. We also collect device information (IP address, browser type) through standard web server logs.
2. How we use your information
- Membership records help us organise observation sessions, manage mailing lists, and co-ordinate logistics for field trips. We may contact you about upcoming events, club announcements and requests for feedback.
3. Event photography
- Club events are documented for archival and outreach purposes. If you do not wish to appear in published photographs, tell any core team member at the event or write to us afterwards and we will remove or blur the image from club-controlled channels.
4. Sharing and disclosure
- We do not sell or rent personal information. Details may be shared with Siliguri Institute of Technology authorities where required for approvals, venue bookings, transport or safety compliance, and with event partners strictly for participation lists.
5. Retention and security
- Membership records are retained for the duration of your studies plus one academic year for reporting, after which they are deleted or anonymised. Records are held in access-restricted club accounts managed by the current core team.
6. Your choices
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may opt out of club mailing lists at any time by writing to AstroneerClubSIT@protonmail.com. We respond to requests within 30 days.
7. Third-party platforms
- Links to Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, GitHub and Telegram open external sites governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control what those platforms collect once you leave this website.
8. Changes to this policy
- This policy may be revised as club activities evolve. Material changes will be announced on this page and on our social channels.
