By using this website or taking part in club activities you agree to the terms below. Personal data is handled as described in our privacy policy.
1. Membership and participation
Membership is open to enrolled students of Siliguri Institute of Technology. Your membership may be suspended or terminated if you breach this policy or the club's code of conduct. Reinstatement is at the discretion of the core team.
2. Intellectual property
Creative works produced or published through the club (images, datasets, software, writing) are attributed to their creators. The club may reuse these materials for outreach and academic purposes under creative commons or similar licences, with attribution.
3. Limitation of liability
The club and its members are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of this website or attendance at club events, including loss of data, equipment damage or personal injury, except where prohibited by law.
4. Event participation and safety
Observation nights, camps and field trips involve travel, darkness, uneven terrain and shared optical equipment. Participants must follow instructions from the core team and faculty coordinator, remain with the group, and never point any instrument at the Sun without a certified solar filter fitted and verified by a coordinator.
5. Equipment policy
Club equipment and cameras are issued against a logbook entry and must be returned in the condition received. Loss or damage arising from negligent handling may be recovered from the borrowing member at the discretion of the core team and faculty coordinator.
6. Code of conduct
The club is committed to a harassment-free environment. Discrimination, harassment, gatekeeping of beginners, or interference with another member's observing session may lead to removal from events and from the club, and referral to the institute's grievance mechanism.
7. Disclaimer
Astronomical timings, ephemerides, weather notes and event schedules are published in good faith and may change without notice; verify critical details before travelling. Content is provided on an as-is basis without warranties of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, with jurisdiction in the courts of Darjeeling district, West Bengal, and are read together with the rules and regulations of Siliguri Institute of Technology.
